Will's First Haircut

Will's hair was getting a little out of control.
So last Saturday, March 24, Aunt Claire gave him a little trim.

Before:

He didn't like being held still to cut his hair.

After: Happy boy.

Month 5

Oh my, another month has come and gone! Our little buddy is growing up fast and changing every day. He is interacting with the world around him and is learning every day.
I absolutely love spending all day with my little buddy. He is just so much fun.
Jono has been in busy season the past couple months but thankfully this is his last week!
Will and I are very excited to be seeing him more.
  • Sleep training is going very well! At night he gets one last feeding, we read him a book or two, say prayers and sing songs while we cuddle. We leave one arm out of his wrap, rock him, say our 'I love you', we put him in his crib and give him a kiss. Then we walk out and he will play for a little bit. Sometimes he starts to cry so we stay by the side of the crib to calm and comfort him and to put his pacifier back in if he spits it out. Other times he whines and then turns his head to the left. When he starts quietly humming you know he's on his way to soundly sleeping. And lately after he plays for a while he will fall asleep on his own without his pacifier. I am so glad we have found a nighttime routine that works for all of us.
  • He has started eating solid foods and get 1-2 feedings a day. So far he has eaten applesauce, green beans, bananas, and sweet potatoes. He is still deciding which foods he likes, but he enjoys eating solid foods.
  • He LOVES jumping. He will arch his back so he can stand and all he wants to do is jump. Everyone's arms are getting an extreme workout. Will's legs are getting stronger each day and he will jump and jump for as long as you let him.
  • He has gotten much better at being in his car seat. He will play with his blanket or toys and hardly ever cries anymore. When he is tired he doesn't need his pacifier anymore and will put himself to sleep.
  • He loves watching life around him. He will lock his eyes on the cats and follow them around the room. He studies every move other kids make and stares intently at them. He loves interacting with people around him, especially family. He has also gotten grabby and will reach for things to touch around him, especially food and things we put in our mouths.
  • He found his toes! He rolls from side to side and grabs his toes and stares at his feet.
  • He is starting to learn words like his name, bottle, sleep, jump and kick.
  • He has started to really play with his toys, grabbing, chewing and throwing. It's nice to give him something that will distract him if he gets fussy. He still loves his blankies.
  • His hair is getting more and more blonde. His hair was also getting pretty wild so he got his first hair cut from Aunt Claire last Saturday--it looks much better!

Rice Cereal (and applesauce)

We have been trying rice cereal for the past couple weeks now. In the beginning Will was not interested. He took about three bites and then refused. He then refused the second and third time we tried it.
I decided to wait a couple days before waiting again.
Sure enough, on the fourth try it took.
We also threw in some applesauce to spruce it up a bit.
I love the way he purses his lips when he is done eating.

Our little bug is growing too fast.
